Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real is a California based rock band led by Willie Nelson's son. Founded in 2008, the band has been rapidly gaining notoriety. In 2015 they became Neil Young's backing band on his thirty-sixth studio album, The Monsanto Years, and its accompanying tour.
As with all creative artists, Nelson's course has been somewhat unpredictable. Though born to country music royalty, he has followed a different muse. Or, more accurately, he has introduced a bunch of muses to each other and locked them into an imaginary room to spend some wild time together. The result is a sound that has a simplicity to it that produces an instinctual urge to want to jump up and shout in the name of rock. There is also a complexity, simmering underneath the simple elements of power chords and full-throttle tempo. The tenacious, underdog streak in Nelson's voice blazes a path and leads his band straight into the world ahead. It was this hell-bent-on-doing-what-we-want worldview that certainly drew Neil Young to want to play with them.
Northern California's outlaw music band Poor Man's Whiskey has a reputation for high-energy live shows, bringing together an incomparable fusion of bluegrass, southern rock and old school jam, pulling from equally deep wells of story-telling originals, expertly crafted covers and zany on-stage shenanigans. This "High-Octane Hootenanny" will certainly delight those interested in a foot-stompin' good time. PMW has a stunning repertoire to choose songs from creating a new show every night. In addition to their upbeat original sets Poor Man's Whiskey have developed special late night "tribute sets" with their original bluegrass/americana twists which include "Dark Side of the Moonshine" (bluegrass interpretation of the classic Pink Floyd album), "Graceland" (tribute to the classic Paul Simon album), "Old and In the Way", "Tribute to Allman Brothers Band", and "Tribute to Kate Wolf". Crowds of all ages will sing, dance and have a good time!
California songwriter Corinne West is a poet, a tunesmith, a visionary and an utterly stellar performer. Her music evokes the eternal stories of mystic troubadours, while speaking to the sonic sensibilities of a modern audience. A very well-established figure on the acoustic roots scene, West has recorded five critically-acclaimed albums and has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe. Her distinctive style is marked by lush vocals, pristine guitar and bold lyricism that reflects grit, discerning optimism and a far-reaching reverence for space and time. She is equal parts angel and outlaw, delicate and fierce. Her current release "Starlight Highway" has received rave reviews globally including The Daily Telegraph, UK selecting "Starlight Highway" as one of the top records in 2016. And her voice? Relix Magazine says West has "A voice of Gold," while The San Francisco Chronicle boldly states "a singer with an angelic voice."
Wavy Gravy, originally known as Hugh Romney, became famous in the counter culture movement when he stood on the stage at Woodstock and announced...." His primary focus has been Camp Winnarainbow, a circus and performing arts camp for children that he co-directs with his wife Jahanara, and raising FUN'ds for Seva Foundation for which he is a founding board member. Wavy is also know as a Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor. Through his good work on behalf of the planet and its least fortunate residents, Wavy Gravy has achieved his own brand of sainthood "Saint Misbehavin", which is the title of the feature length documentary about his life, produced in 2009.
