2009 | Annual Summary

Seva builds sustainable programs that reach those who struggle for access to the most basic of human needs.

This past year, Seva programs served over one half-million people worldwide.

The core values central to Seva's approach are: genuine partnership with the communities we serve, a primary focus on program sustainability, and an unwavering commitment to aid those most vulnerable, including indigenous populations, women and girls.

Sight Programs
Seva's Sight Programs have benefited millions of people in poor communities in countries such as Cambodia, Nepal, Tibet, India and Guatemala.  Our proven approach helps local partners develop high quality, affordable eye care services that they can sustain on their own.  In the past year, Seva-supported programs served over 500,000 people worldwide, including more than 25,000 children.

Center for Innovation in Eye Care
Through our Center for Innovation in Eye Care, Seva is leading efforts to scale up equitable and affordable eye care services around the world.  The work is organized into projects, each one bridging a gap in knowledge, service delivery and community outreach.  We address these far-reaching issues using the leverage and connections that Seva has built with the World Health Organization and others.

Native American Community Health Program
Seva partners with Native Americans working to build healthy communities.  Our support is vital — Native American issues receive only 0.5% of the total grant dollars by U.S. foundations, even though Native communities are in great need.
