Blind R&B Musician Rod Clemmons
Tour Benefits Seva Preventable Blindness Program

Recording Artist Rod Clemmons has just announced that 50% of proceeds from his latest tour will benefit Seva’s programs in preventable blindness. Rod, who was born blind explains that “being a blind artist, I was drawn to Seva's efforts to eradicate blindness in the world.”

Rod began studying classical piano at the age of three.  He continued his classical piano training at the Arkansas School for the Blind where he graduated from high school.
At Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Rod had the opportunity to work with great classical music giants including Robert Shaw, Leonard Bernstein, and jazz legend David Baker.  Clemmons graduated with honors from I.U. with a degree in classical piano performance, but while he was there he began discovering a love for pop and R&B music and production.

Recording several demos, Rod sharpened his skills as an arranger and producer. He met the legendary musician Isaiah Sanders who set him on a course of success playing in night clubs and music production in Louisville Kentucky, then on to New York City where he took his place with fine studio musicians.

Rod created Verdict Records, his own independent record label that is releasing his debut CD, "What's Up?  It's Me."  Rod is working with fine musicians like guitarist Tomas Doncker, Willie Brown Jr., Masa Shimizu, and bassist Stanly Banks to name a few.

Music has always been a part of me since I can remember.  Music moves me.  It makes me smile, laugh, cry, it touches me in ways that are so deeply personal and internal.  It is me and a part of my every day existence.

Rod’s tour begins in New York City, with dates being added every day.  He explains “I am setting a few performances in schools for the blind including the Kentucky School For The Blind in Louisville KY, a city where I lived for a few years. I'm also setting up other performances in other such schools. I felt like it could bring public awareness to Seva's efforts dealing with blindness in a very specific way. We can change someone's life in such an amazing way with the help of caring people who will give a few dollars to these efforts.  It doesn't take much, just a little from all of us.”
