Instituto Mexicano de Oftalmología (IMO), located in Querétaro, Mexico, is on a mission to provide specialized ophthalmic healthcare to low income people, who lack governmental support as well as private health coverage. Its goals are prevention, patient care and rehabilitation to allow patients to return to their daily social and productive activities as soon as possible.
Among IMO’s objectives are to train eye health professionals who have a vision for public health, allowing them to replicated sustainable, high-quality eye care models and to undertake high level research in ophthalmology and public health related topics to generate best practice and evidence-based policies. IMO and Seva work together to achieve these objectives through the Global Sight Initiative network. Seva also supports low-cost or free cataract surgeries at IMO through the Focusing Philanthropy World Sight Day campaigns.
