Tens of thousands of us came to celebrate and remember the life of our beloved friend Ram Dass last Friday, January 31, 2020.
We came from all over the world both in-person to San Francisco and through the magic of technology where the memorial service reached over 100,000 on our livestream to over 20 countries. We shared an evening of listening, reflecting, and storytelling. It was a time to sing and dance. We sat in meditation and in awe of the life of a wonderful spirit. Together we laughed and we cried. Spiritual leaders from many faith traditions came to help us honor Ram Dass, his teacher, and his good works that continue to inspire us. There was so much love in the air.
Whether physically at the Unitarian Universalist church on Friday night or joining virtually from around the world, we all answered Ram Dass's invitation to Be Here Now.
Thank you for joining us. You can watch the full video of the memorial service above.
Let's go forward in a spirit of Love, Service to others, and Remembering.
Ram Dass exemplifies and gives voice to the spiritual motivation of Seva’s work, the notion of "selfless service." Ram Dass continues his selfless service to the family of humankind by sharing his reflections on the end of life through an upcoming Netflix documentary and a new book, co-authored by fellow Seva founder Mirabai Bush.
On March 4th, more than twelve hundred Seva supporters joined together at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului, Hi for Sing Out For Sight. A spectacular benefit concert to honor Seva's beloved co-founder Ram Dass.
"When I got involved with Seva, it was like putting on an outfit that multiplied my capacity to be involved with the relief of suffering a thousandfold, because this group has such extraordinary diversity of skills, and talents, and preoccupations if you will." - Ram Dass
Seva Foundation co-founder and Lifetime Board member, Ram Dass, tells the story of Seva's founding in 1978. Also, Larry and Girija Brilliant, Wavy Gravy and other Seva co-founders discuss the spiritual motivations for their work.
Honor Ram Dass by making a special donation to Seva and watch a 2-minute video as he speaks about having compassion for the global family of humanity.
We remember Ram Dass for his compassion, selfless service, and most importantly, love. The impact Ram Dass has made for millions of people around the world, and generations yet to even come, has not gone unnoticed.
