Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) is also known as National Society for Comprehensive Eye Care for the control and prevention of blindness in Nepal. NNJS has partnered with Seva since Seva began working in Nepal in 1980 to complete the first countrywide rapid assessment of avoidable blindness. NNJS is a non-governmental, non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit making, humanitarian organization, which is involved in the development, expansion and delivery of eye care services in Nepal. It was established in 1978 to conduct all eye related program. It has been able to take rapid strides because of the generous contributions made by Seva Foundation and other donor agencies. Over our three-decade partnership, NNJS and Seva established the Lumbini Eye Institute and other primary eye care centers. The combined effect has been to produce a network of ophthalmic services, which is more extensive and penetrative than anything so far attempted in the field of health care in Nepal.
